There are many restaurants in the area that have a gluten free menu.  Here are a few of some of our favorites in the Des Moines area. (And a reminder, as always, be clear that the waiter knows your dietary needs, and that getting a gluten free meal is a medical necessity--not just a preferred diet! And also be aware that anytime you eat out, the kitchen staff can do the best they can, but there is always a risk of cross contamination/human error!)

• Godfather's Pizza....check ahead to see if they have gluten free crusts or not...not all of them in the area do. 
• Jimmy John's ("Unwiches") Ask the workers to change their gloves.
• Outback Steakhouse
• P.F. Chang's China Bistro
• Pizza Ranch...check ahead to see if they serve gluten free pizzas--the one in Waukee does; however not all locations do.
• Red Robin (gluten free buns!)
